adhoc International: where the Rhine meets the Mediterranean Sea…
Basel, home of the adhoc International headquarters is thanks to its geographical position -Switzerland bordering Germany and France - multi-lingual and multi-national. One hour from Zurich, less than 3½ hours from Geneva, Frankfurt and Paris, Basel is the birthplace of many value-driven initiatives and visions such as adhoc, which can easily be spread to other European countries. adhoc is committed to supporting its customers in their attempt to reach the appropriate IT performance and service quality throughout EMEA.
A “real-time” bridge between the adhoc professional services and the R&D engineering team located in Tunisia allows efficient communication of performance solutions requirements related to new and emerging technologies. adhoc R&D delivers the methodology (APEP: adhoc Performance Engineering Process), the technology (adhoc Performance Studio, formerly APEF) and the unified solution elements platform (adhoc Performance Platform) which evolve to cope with the changes in scope and challenges that customers face regarding IT performance.
Driven by its success in establishing measurement-based Performance Engineering to assure application performance on the European market, adhoc has launched two axes of development. First on the product and solutions level with important R&D efforts to efficiently deploy Performance Engineering at the Enterprise level in an industrial way. Process Performance and Performance Governance are the latest research areas investigated.
The second development is geographic. The challenge is big: international development in EMEA, and ambitious product development with Enterprise IT Performance in focus. But our commitment is just as strong, and when the Rhine meets the Mediterranean sea, major challenges can certainly be embraced!

The main objective of the “Editorial” is to introduce this new adhoc initiative to you: collaborators, customers, partners, suppliers, colleagues, friends...
This “Editorial” is somehow a premiere.
I'll not address the topic of software performance engineering. But engineering.
First because unlike “software performance engineering”, the term “engineering” is known to all of you. Second “engineering” is a strong element of the adhoc identity and this information series is informing about “adhoc”. Finally because of the root intention of engineering, as defined in “systematic application of scientific knowledge in creating and building cost-effective solutions to practical problems in the service of mankind”. *
Yes “mankind”. Human values are the other face of adhoc's identity. I know, we are a business entity in a competitive market and have among our objectives to increase revenue, benefits, etc. Furthermore and especially in our industry context, computer science and IT, we are talking more about processors, programs, compiler, bit and bytes than about human aspects. However, what we always forget and neglect is that we are, at the end of the day, dealing for and with humans. The human dimension is omnipresent: collaborators, superiors, customer, supplier, users and even competitors ...Neglecting the human dimension is therefore not rational. Being engineer is being rational, is being aware of the human aspects.
We at adhoc, being aware of the duality between engineering aspects as systematicy, rationality, solution-focus, and human aspects like fairness, tolerance, sharing are committed to continue our mission in elaborating and delivering engineering solutions, especially for new and open technologies, with and for you and promoting our vision towards innovation and state of the art engineering solutions with respect to human aspects and principles.
Enjoy to the first edition of “adhoc Information Bulletin”!
